HOW IS GROUP EXERCISE DIFFERENT AT MISHA PATEL STUDIO?
Group exercise sessions at Misha Patel Studio have a maximum of six students. The small size of these sessions allows for greater attention on the individual participants, which in turn facilitates a better learning experience. Beginners will learn correct form more easily, while advanced participants will be challenged through the appropriate modifications.
WHAT DO I BRING TO A GROUP EXERCISE SESSION?
It is important that you wear fitted and breathable exercise attire that permits for a full range of movement while allowing the instructors to see your alignment and form. Bringing a sweater for warm up and cool down will aid the controlled adjustment of your body temperature. Shoes are needed for cardio dance session, but are optional for ab fusion. Shoes are not worn during Yoga or Barre Fusion sessions and socks are optional. We encourage you to bring your own yoga mat, but do offer mats for purchase.
WHAT IS YOGA?
The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word "Yuj" which means to unite, or to come together. Yoga allows a practitioner to connect body and mind through a meditative, yet invigorating sequence of postures. Yoga encompasses many different styles that range from emphasizing form to focusing on cardio training. MPS offers Vinyasa Flow Yoga, which unifies movement with breath, and generates body heat for enhanced stretching.
WHO PRACTICES YOGA?
Serving individuals of any ability and age, Yoga is customarily practiced to increase focus, rehabilitate from injuries, or increase physical performance. Consistent with its approach to other offered methods of exercise, MPS employs a performance-oriented style of instruction that is specifically modified for varying ability as well as current and aspired fitness levels.
WHAT CAN YOGA DO FOR ME?
Yoga promotes greater flexibility, strength, muscle tone, and detoxification. Because Yoga postures release tension from the body and the mind, practitioners also notice increased clarity of thought, which in return helps them to better manage their bodies' reaction to stress. Additionally, Yoga can massage certain organs and boost blood and oxygen circulation to muscles tissue, which aids to combat the symptoms of arthritis. Some athletes practice Yoga for very particular outcomes, such as swimmers to improve breathing techniques, golfers to improve posture, and cyclists to ease back tension.
CAN I PRACTICE YOGA DURING PREGNANCY?
Yoga is of particular benefit to an expecting mother, because it helps to reduce backaches, makes her more comfortable with a rapidly changing body, and offers a focused way to connect with her unborn child.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM A CARDIO DANCE SESSION?
You will learn different dance genres each month through easy to learn, progressively layered and low impact dance moves.
WHAT CAN AB FUSION DO FOR ME?
Carefully selected exercises will strengthen your abdominal muscles, reduce back pain, and improve posture. To ensure optimal muscle utilization without neck or joint strain, each session is programed with standing, sitting, and laying down exercises to target and challenge all muscles that make up your core.
WHO BENEFITS FROM BARRE FUSION?
Barre Fusion is recommended for individuals that are interested in increasing muscle tone and keeping long lean muscle. This format can be modified for all, and incorporates light weights and props to increase strength, challenge balance, and work on core strength and lengthening larger muscles. MPS routines are uniquely different in order to avoid repetitive stress injuries and knee pain while increasing core strength through proper movement mechanics and spinal loading.
WHAT IS METABOLIC TRAINING?
Metabolic training is an exercise format that utilizes performance training to exhaust the body and burn stored adipose tissue, more commonly referred to as body fat. Misha Patel Studio creates a fast-paced routine of anaerobic cardio exercises that use body weight resistance training, along with optional free weights. Due to the taxing nature of these sessions on both the muscles and lungs, we recommend limiting participation to no more than 3-4 classes per week.
WHO BENEFITS FROM METABOLIC TRAINING?
Metabolic Training is recommended for individuals that are interested in increasing muscle tone and shedding excess weight both swiftly and safely. This format can be modified for all, but it is designed for individuals who are highly motivated to make a noticeable physical change, enhance strength, and realize their full capacity. We encourage those with injuries to inquire with a Metabolic Training instructor prior to enrolling.
